HardenedBSD Bah Humbug

I just installed HardenedBSD on my system, and was going to create a ports build collection. I found that portsnap did not work and was instructed to use git. OK, fine. But then found that I had to "git" from GitHub. I did not like that, but OK, fine. Then... GitHub was asking me for my account name and password!!! I don't have one, nor do I want one. Why should I have to authenticate my identity just to download source code? This is insane. Good-bye HardenedBSD, I shall not be seeing you again.
